Concertus Monthly Round Up – March

Concertus March 2025 news round up

As Easter approaches, we are reflecting on the project milestones from March. Working in collaboration with our contractors and clients, we are pleased to see the progression as we continue to impact the lives of those within the community.

Royal visit to officially open Dental facilities in Ipswich
In March, His Royal Highness, The Duke of Gloucester KG GCVO, visited the University of Suffolk to officially open the new Dental CIC and Dental teaching facilities. We are thrilled to have been part of delivering the new facilities as the university’s professional service partners alongside Barnes Construction and KLH Architects Ltd.

During the opening, HRH observed a demonstration in the teaching labs by BSc Dental Hygiene and Therapy students and staff before meeting Dental CIC staff and a patient. He rounded out his visit with the unveiling of two plaques. Read more about the project here.

Martlesham Primary Academy celebrates completion of major expansion works
Last month we celebrated the official opening of the new teaching block at Martlesham Primary Academy. The new classroom block features a Year 6 classroom, cloakroom, toilet facilities, and a plant room. Part of the £750,000 project was dedicated to creating a Specialist Educational Needs (SEN) classroom.

We are pleased to have worked with Seamans Building for Suffolk County Council to deliver these works for the school and REAch2 Academy Trust. Read more here.

New infill extension at Swanwick Primary School
The new rooms can be separated by a sliding wall that can be adjusted to create a larger, adaptable space. In addition to the infill extension, internal alterations to the school layout took place, including installing new fire doors and a comprehensive range of M&E and external works, such as new steps, balustrades, ramps, landscaping, and external lighting, enhancing accessibility and safety.

This project reflects a shared commitment to create inspiring, inclusive, and functional educational spaces that cater to the diverse needs of students and staff.

Tibshelf Community School celebrates opening of new teaching facilities
We attended the official opening of a new teaching block at Tibshelf Community School in Derbyshire in March.

Delivered in partnership with Stepnell for Derbyshire County Council, the new building provides four additional classrooms and is a significant step in accommodating the growing demand and ensuring an inclusive educational environment for all students, especially for students with Specialist Educational Needs.

Headteacher Lucie Wainwright expressed pride in the school community’s commitment to meeting the diverse needs of students. The new facilities will enhance the educational experience and help foster personal growth. It was great to be part of this fantastic celebration. Read more here.

New modular building at Derbyshire Primary School
We partnered with Ideal Building Systems Ltd for Derbyshire County Council to transform Pilsley Primary School in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, by creating a new modular building.

The project’s latest phase includes the introduction of a new spacious classroom with a kitchenette, accessible WC, and a dedicated library area. This new building replaced a dilapidated structure on the same footprint and features a textured external cladding finish.

This is the second phase we have delivered in collaboration with Ideal Building Systems at this school. Previously, we worked on a sensory pod unit constructed off-site to enhance the school’s facilities for all students.

New Property Maintenance partnership
We are delighted to announce the new Property Maintenance partnership with DPL Group Ltd and Brooks & Wood Ltd.

Concertus and the wider Vertas Group, will manage the contracts on behalf of Suffolk County Council and other clients. Darren Fellowes, Associate Director at Concertus, said: “We believe this partnership will offer our clients a dependable and cost-effective service. We have committed to working closely together as one team, to ensure this new arrangement is a great success. We are excited to work with DPL Group and Brooks & Wood, two local businesses in Suffolk”. Read more here.

National Careers Week highlighted the importance of supporting local communities
This year we will welcome five T-Level students from local colleges to join the Concertus team. To celebrate National Careers Week, we highlighted Reggie, who recently presented in a session with our partner Thrive.

In it, he shared his experience at Concertus so far and how his work experience has helped him understand his career goals, build important relationships, and complete work, which has further supported him with his college studies. We look forward to sharing more about their journey over the coming months.
