Trainee Architectural Assistant
Derbyshire
To advise clients on design and construction of new buildings, and advising on the maintenance and repair of existing buildings
Business delivery:
- Assist with the preparation and presentation of feasibility reports, mood boards and high-quality design proposals to the client
- Work around constraining factors such as planning legislation, building regulations, environmental impact and project budget
- Assist in the preparation of applications for planning and building control
- Help choose materials to be used and the requirements for the project, based on site and environmental criteria
- React to and resolve issues which arise during the design and construction stages of a project
- Produce and edit drawings using ArchiCAD and DLM
- Review client briefs and support Architectural Designers to develop designs which meet building requirements
- Provide technical detail services, supporting Architectural Designers, Seniors and Principals both within your team and across our multi-disciplinary business
- Participate as a member of the Concertus team supporting colleagues and working collaboratively to develop the business
- Work flexibly to support delivery across the service
Customer service:
- Deliver great customer service to existing and potential clients
- Liaising with clients and other parties
- Work collaboratively with other professionals within Concertus and also with third party consultants/contractors/suppliers
- Provide an efficient and business-like point of contact. This includes responding to internal and external enquiries (via face-to-face, telephone, email)
- Deliver a consistent and professional level of customer service at all times to Clients and other practices within the industry
- Seek advice on the design quality and practicality of a project

BIM roles and responsibilities:
- Maintain and receive information into the information model
- Configure information for project outputs
- Populate the information exchange format for the information model.
- Production of design outputs related to a discipline specific, package-based or time-based task.
- Undertake clash detection process and report to design team lead
- Produce BIM compliant working drawings and specifications
Communication:
- Discuss the objectives, requirements and budget of a project
- Liaise with construction professionals on the feasibility of potential projects
- Work closely with a team of other professionals such as building service engineers, quantity surveyors, project managers and architectural assistants
- Maintain good levels of communication with the project team
- Travel regularly to construction sites, proposed locations and client meetings
- Ensure projects are running according to schedule and budget

It’s essential you have:
- Good design and drawing skills
- A keen interest in buildings and the built environment
- Excellent communication skills, written and oral, with the ability to liaise effectively with a range of other professionals
- An understanding of the relationship between people, buildings and the wider environment
- Good technical construction knowledge
